Arabic Verse is an independent site that explains Arabic poetry and song for learners of Arabic, students of music and curious listeners. It covers classical metres and forms, the great poets, and the vocabulary of Arabic music.

How we write

• Plain English, with Arabic terms given in transliteration and Arabic script.
• Where attributions or dates are disputed, we say so.
• We quote only short lines of classical poetry, with our own translations, and never reproduce modern lyrics or poems.
